Incident Investigation & Fault Analysis Consultant

Job description / Role

- Conduct detailed investigations of distribution network incidents, outages, and equipment failures.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for all technical faults within MV/LV networks.
- Analyze protection system operations, relay events, breaker tripping, and SCADA alarms to determine fault origins.
- Prepare technical incident reports with findings, corrective actions, and preventive recommendations.
- Coordinate with field teams during fault isolation, switching operations, and service restoration.
- Monitor network performance and identify repeated faults or abnormal patterns.
- Validate the reliability and safety of distribution system equipment through technical assessments.
- Ensure all incidents are recorded in the incident management system with accurate technical details.
- Recommend improvements to reduce outage durations and enhance network reliability (SAIDI/SAIFI KPIs).
- Conduct site inspections after major incidents to assess equipment condition and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Communicate investigation outcomes to internal stakeholders and support decision-making.
- Support maintenance planning by identifying high-risk assets and recurring fault points.
- Assist in developing technical guidelines, procedures, and best practices for fault response and incident handling.
- Participate in emergency response activities and provide technical support during crisis situations.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in power distribution, protection systems, or incident/fault analysis.
- Strong understanding of MV/LV networks, protection coordination, and distribution equipment.
- Hands-on knowledge of SCADA systems, fault recorders, and relay configuration tools.
- Experience with root cause analysis methodologies and technical reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure during emergencies and critical network failures.
