Landscape Inspector

Job description / Role

DAR Engineering, a leading design and engineering consulting organization in Saudi Arabia engaged in power generation, electrical transmission and distribution, health care, and high-rise buildings.

Job Purpose:

We are currently looking for landscape inspectors to join our team for a prestigious parks, trails, gates, and nursery softscaping and irrigation project in Riyadh.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all landscaping, softscaping, and irrigation works adhere to project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

• Conduct routine inspections of softscaping, irrigation systems, and landscape works to ensure strict adherence to project specifications, local regulations, and international standards.
• Evaluate plant materials, soil preparation, and plantation techniques to guarantee compliance with design specifications and horticultural best practices.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and operation of irrigation networks, including sprinklers, drip systems, and pumps, ensuring optimal efficiency and sustainability.
• Assess the quality and compliance of landscape materials, including plants, trees, turf, fertilizers, and hardscape elements, maintaining alignment with approved standards.
• Supervise the execution of landscaping activities to uphold approved methodologies and industry standards.
• Identify non-conformities, implement corrective measures, and monitor rectifications to uphold project quality and integrity.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including inspection reports, quality checklists, and test results, providing regular updates to QA/QC and project management teams.
• Conduct snagging inspections, document deficiencies, and escalate snag lists for timely resolution.
• Liaise with contractors and project managers to ensure seamless execution, adherence to quality standards, and achievement of project milestones.
• Enforce safety and environmental compliance, ensuring all landscape activities align with regulatory and sustainability guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in landscape quality control, particularly in softscaping, irrigation, and large-scale urban projects.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in civil engineering, landscape architecture, horticulture, or equivalent.
• Experience in KSA/GCC region (highly recommended).
• Good communication skills, both in presentation and documentation.
• Attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent reporting, documentation, and coordination skills.
• Good command over English.

Knowledge and Functional Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of softscape materials, plant species, irrigation systems, and landscaping best practices.
• Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, testing methodologies, snagging, and rectification processes for landscape and irrigation works.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet multiple deadlines.
