We are seeking a Lead Maintenance Planner to join Southern Area Power Operations Department.
The Southern Area Power Operations Department is responsible for delivering electrical energy to customers in the safest, most reliable and economical manner through a competent workforce committed to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Your primary role is to plan, estimate and schedule maintenance work in an Industrial Maintenance Division and assist the senior Maintenance Planner in planning, estimating and scheduling more jobs. You will utilize corporate maintenance computer programs and databases such as SAP to provide information in a timely and efficient manner. You will coordinate stepped work within the same organization (different work centers) and analyze and prepare daily/weekly schedules.
Key Responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
- Process work orders. Visit job sites when necessary. Utilize knowledge of craft skills and knowledge of the equipment involved, and place job steps in the proper sequence.
- Identify all materials, tools, equipment, and special preparations required for each job step.
- Provide the foremen with a completed package at minimum cost. Ensure that materials are received prior to scheduling the job. Ensure that surplus and excess materials are returned to the proper materials handling personnel for eventual return to the storehouse.
- Arrange for and schedule support service equipment to coincide with the maintenance order scheduling. Provide maintenance performance monitoring data for your assigned area or unit. Prepare Whole Job Standards and review the log of existing Whole Job Standards for potential application.
- Participate in the Weekly/Schedule Coordination Meeting and present the Weekly Schedule of workable maintenance jobs from the backlog. Ensure which jobs will be worked in the upcoming week.
- Prepare daily schedules from the approved Weekly Schedule. Coordinate daily schedules with Maintenance Foremen, Supervisor and Operations Foremen and ensure that a complete planning package is attached to the work order. Check received materials and issue to craftsmen.
- Request crane/trailer and ensure contracts readiness or other resources required on the daily scheduled jobs. List, edit and check all issued maintenance tickets and plan/schedule work.
- Plan major jobs with the assistance of the senior planner and develop critical path charts if required. Update maintenance order statuses. Generate Plant Maintenance reports. Provide maintenance performance monitoring data for your assigned area.
Minimum Requirements
- As the successful candidate, you must have a Diploma in Electrical Engineering. Bachelor's preferred.
- You should have a minimum of 8 years of special field experience in at least one craft or in maintenance planning.
- Fluent command of the English language, both written and verbal.
