Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose: To provide a high quality Learning Resources and Information service for staff and students in the Learning Resource Centre.

Responsibilities include, but aren't limited to, the following:
- Developing the LRC into a vibrant learning environment which encourages independent learning across all students.
- To manage the LRC effectively and providing a responsive and welcoming learning resource and IT service, for all members of the college.
- To develop and manage the Centres’ Information Skills Programme to ensure that staff and students are able to effectively access information required for teaching and learning
- To develop the LRS’s learning resources collections, in collaboration with curriculum teams, to meet the requirements of all courses offered by the college
- Ensure that all learning materials are culturally acceptable for KSA
- To develop the library management system and the webpages to provide local and remote access to resources via the Moodle
- Responsible for LRC budget in association with line manager
- Organising / coordinating the work of the LRC assistant and Student helpers /OJT students assigned to work in the LRC
- Consulting with the Heads of Faculty and their Curriculum Leads regarding subject or course materials in all formats
- To organise and operate the college’s reprographics operations
- To develop a careers library as within the LRC
- Preparing capitation and bids as required
- Supervise students’ private study including students working on LRC computers
- Help students us materials in all formats for research and private study
- Give instruction to students and staff in using the IT facilities including Moodle and various applications software (sometimes in conjunction with IT staff)
- Maintain discipline in the LRC and monitor use of facilities and equipment, deal with misuse as necessary
- Ensure a low level of noise in enforced in the LRC
- Monitor computer use with surveillance software and deal with misuse as necessary
- Oversee and carry out LRC inductions
- Be aware of , and provide information about, staff development activities

Requirements

- Experience of KSA Colleges of Excellence and SSS curriculum structure is an advantage
- Familiar with Cambridge on line examination processes and procedures
- Excellent computer literacy skills
- Excellent administrative skills
- Highly efficient and organised
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in written and oral form in English (Arabic is an advantage)
- Ability to deal sensitively with a variety of situations with teachers, examination invigilators, students and examination board representatives
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to be clear and assertive whilst remaining calm, composed, tactful and flexible is essential.
