Job description / Role
Position Objective
The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating with various divisions/business units/departments of Landmark Arabia for ensuring adherence to legal provisions and providing legal advice, to minimize and effectively manage legal exposure. The ideal candidate will also provide support in contracting and renewal of commercial leases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the collection and organization of documents and information from various cases at the firm. Further, the ideal candidate shall be responsible for attending court hearings, draft the memorandums, appeals, and also prepare and oversee company's various contracts/agreements to protect company's interest and to ensure that contracts/agreements are according to the laws.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for keeping the department and the business at large informed on new laws, regulations, and industry trends that affect the business as well as assisting with the development of policies.
- Addressing critical legal and policy issues in order to ensure that the business's legal and overall objectives are met.
- Interpretation of legal documents in a manner that avails a practical legal approach while properly managing the risks to the business.
- Review, vetting and amending various kind of agreements such as, leases, services, transports, supplies, promotions, marketing, and addendums.
- Draft letters such as, termination, nonrenewal, or any other type.
- Manage employment and other HR related legal issues.
- Due diligence of the property.
- Monitoring changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment and taking appropriate action.
- Review of Bank Documentation.
- Skills and competencies: good knowledge of Legal procedures and provisions, knowledge of corporate laws, knowledge of Commercial law, knowledge of Planning and Organizing & knowledge of Documentation & Drafting.
- Arabic translation of contracts in line with country statutory and legal requirements.
Requirements:
- 4-5 years of experience as a legal counsel.
- Bachelor's law degree with experience in any retail industry will be preferable.
- Experience and knowledge of contract reviewing and drafting (esp. commercial leasing and property related contracts) is a must.
- Litigation management as in-house counsel.
- Must be proficient in English and Arabic Language.
- Willing to work dedicatedly and learn legal aspects.

- Discuss new initiatives to ensure that their risks would be thoroughly analyzed before rollout.
