• MEDICAL UNIT (F-1)

HOURS OF OPERATION
• 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• Nurse Patient Ratio: Day shift: 1:3-4
• Night shift: 1:4-5
• HDU: 1:1-2

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The Unit is an Acute Care Medical Unit consisting of 41 beds including 2 High Dependency Unit (HDU), 4 RadioActive Iodine (RAI) and 4 Negative Pressure rooms. Patients under the care of Endocrine, Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, Allergy/Immunology and Dermatology are admitted in the unit.

• Diabetes (Type I & Type II)
• Pheocromocytoma, Adrenal insufficiency
• Patients for RAI, (Metaiodobenzylguanidine) MIBG
• Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT)
• Multiple Endocrine tests
• Infectious Diseases
• HIV
• Pulmonary Tuberculosis
• Communicable diseases
• Allergy / Immunology
• Immunosuppressive Disorders
• Hyper Ige Syndrome
• Familial Mediterranean fever
• Dermatology
• Pemphigus Vulgaris, Psoriasis
• Melanoma
• Internal Medicine
• Community Acquired Pneumonia
• Deep Vein Thrombosis
• Pyelonephritis
• Fever of unknown origin
• Multiple Medical Problems with complications
• Multiple infected bedsores from home
• Fluid and Electrolyte Imbalances
• Occasionally we receive patients for Surgery, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Gastrology,
• Metabolic and Medical Genetic patients. We also administer cytotoxic drugs.
• FREQUENT PROCEDURES/SERVICES/FUNCTIONS
• Administration of Cytotoxic agents (by Chemo certified nurses only)
• IV cannulation insertion and care
• 12 lead Electrocardiogram
• Blood glucose monitoring
• Bone marrow aspiration by MDs (assisting Bone Marrow technician)
• Assist MD in performing Thoracentesis, Paracentesis, Lumbar Puncture, skin Biopsy and Temporary
• CVC
• Peripherally inserted CVC (PICC Nurse)
• Hemodialysis ( by Dialysis Nurses)
• Plasma pharesis (by Blood Bank nurses)
• Staples and suture removal
• Phlebotomy in Emergency situation and in the absence of phlebotomist
• Patient Controlled Analgesia
• Wound management

Requirements
• At least two years and ideally more as a Staff nurse (RN) in an busy medical unit. This post is open to native English speakers at this time.
