Job description
The role focuses on crafting clear, concise, and user-friendly copy within digital products to enhance user experiences. This role typically involves working closely with designers, product managers, and developers to create microcopy, content flows, and messaging that help guide users through interfaces smoothly, ensuring that users not only understand how to interact with a product but also feel confident doing so.
Responsibilities
- Enable high-quality user experience by crafting copy that meaningfully connects with consumers and guides them through each step of their journey.
- Work with a team of UX researchers, designers, developers, and the wider business at each stage of design, bringing ideas to life from drafts through prototypes to final copy.
- Define content strategy for a given product and write clear and concise content across multiple touch points, including product names, labels and navigational elements, tutorials, user flows, and notifications.
- Deliver microcopy for functional interaction, writing for orientation, hierarchy, and clarity in information architecture, wireframes, and interface designs.
- Create copy usage guidelines, update and maintain them by documenting iterations.
- Help UX researchers to write clear questions for their remote surveys.
- Participate in user research and analyze data from various validations such as user research or A/B testing.
- Conduct user research to validate specific microcopy performance.
- Advocate the end user while making sure the business requirements are met.
- Continually research and define best practice for UI copy.
- Enforce, incorporate, and comply with all necessary controls and related information security policies, procedures, practices, training, reporting, personal due diligence, and vigilance within departmental and unit activities and operations.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications
- A tertiary level qualification from a recognized institution in communication or a relevant field.
Years and nature of experience
- Recommended 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience where required competencies and experience have been demonstrated in UX copywriting for digital products, whether for websites, mobile apps, or software interfaces.
- Demonstrate a portfolio that showcases UX writing skills, producing copy of product experience that drives specific outcomes.
- Has passion for quality user-centered writing with great attention to detail.
- Knowledge of user-centered UX principles and practices.
