Job description / Role
Materials Engineer
> Should have an eye to go through the details of drawings, specifications & Bill of quantities to identify all the materials required to be purchased for the project.
> Lead the process of submission of Architecture & ID material submittal ensuring that all the relevant documents are in place in time.
> Maintaining logs in connection with the agreed program of works and adhere to the planned submission dates. Coordinate with subcontractors for their material submission.
> Should be able to prepare mood board, sample boards for client's approval.
> Should be knowledgeable of Saudi Arabian / Middle Eastern building construction market. Should be proactive enough to envisage the alternatives in case certain products are out of stock or available with long lead.
> Identify possible obstacles which may disrupt the engineering submission and prepare RFI in advance to avoid delays.
> Preparing & maintaining the material submittal log, liaising with procurement teams in order to identify long lead items delivery as per the program.
> Performing design compliance checks, Design Quality audits in reference to the specified materials with the working knowledge of International & local codes of construction.
> Knowledge of working with ISO systems, EDMS (Aconex), proficiency in Auto-Cad & presentation soft-wares.
> Should be aware of the LEED requirements in material submission, should have an experience of working on a LEED certified project coordinating materials.
> Assist in taking off the quantities, preparing the stone cut list, carpet seam layouts, fabric elevations & any other specialist item shop drawings.
> Attend technical meetings with client, organize material coordination workshop for client sign offs on materials. Collaboratively working with teams of different discipline and should be able to conduct professionally
Requirements
The Material Coordinator / Engineer shall coordinate all the material specified in the Architecture / ID discipline with the drawing. Ensure that all the materials are identified and closely work with procurement team for their timely deliveries. Attention to details is a must
A Degree Qualified professional, preferably B. Arch (5 year Course), Civil Engineer with building material experience. Candidate must have been part of the finishing and handing over a reputed project e.g hotel interiors, high end commercial interiors & fit out project. The candidate must be available Saudi Arabia on Transferable visa
