Role:
Under general supervision, performs moderately-complex material take-off and control assignments. This level of Material Controller is becoming proficient in resolving specialized and complex problems related to the control of bulk materials. Understands acceptable methods and procedures used to complete assignments.
Responsibilities:
• Performs bulk material and labor take-off for requirements used in estimating prospective projects and in the pre-contract stages, and control and definitive-type estimates for active projects.
• Performs material take-offs from design drawings to establish material quantities on requisitions used in purchasing bulk material for shop and field fabrication and installation.
• Reviews material control computer documents to track material from engineering to installation at the job site.
• Reviews material control activity in order to provide a timely delivery to the job site and prevent any shortages or surplus.
• Assists field personnel in tracking materials not yet received at the job site.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• BS Degree in relevant discipline with 5+ years of related experience in drafting/design and/or material take-off and control.
• Proficiency in the material take-off and control process is required, as well as PC literacy and a working knowledge of CAD and other computer software used for design/drafting.
