Key responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor the project Quality Management System (QMS) specific to mechanical and piping works.
  • Review and ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API, ISO).
  • Conduct inspections and surveillance activities for piping fabrication, installation, welding, NDT, pressure testing, and mechanical equipment installation.
  • Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ), and associated documentation.
  • Coordinate and witness non-destructive testing (NDT), hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records including Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, inspection reports, and test packages.
  • Interface with construction teams, subcontractors, and client representatives on quality-related matters.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance, raise non-conformance reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support pre-commissioning and mechanical completion activities including punch listing and turnover documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations during quality inspection processes.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in quality engineering on construction, mining, oil and gas project sites.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, MIG/MAG), piping systems, and associated testing procedures.
  • Familiar with international codes and standards: ASME B31.3, B31.1, API 650/1104, ASTM, ISO 9001, etc.
  • Certified in QA/QC (e.g., CSWIP, AWS CWI, API, NDT Level II) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to site conditions.
