As a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team, you will be the technical lead responsible for the integrity and performance of all mechanical assets on a major petrochemical development. You will provide critical oversight of the EPC contractor’s engineering and procurement activities, ensuring that both static and rotating equipment meet the highest standards of reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
• Engineering Surveillance: Review and validate mechanical data sheets, specifications, and drawings for a wide range of equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, pumps, and compressors.
• Package Management: Provide technical leadership for complex mechanical packages, ensuring vendor designs align with project-specific requirements and international codes.
• Compliance & Quality: Verify that all mechanical designs comply with ASME (Sections VIII & B31.3), API (610, 617, 650), and TEMA standards.
• Procurement Support: Participate in Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and perform shop visits/inspections to ensure fabrication quality and adherence to delivery schedules.
• Interdisciplinary Integration: Work closely with Piping and Process teams to resolve layout conflicts and ensure the correct application of nozzle loads and piping stress analysis results.
• Construction & Commissioning: Provide site-based technical support during the installation, alignment, and pre-commissioning of major rotating machinery and static equipment.
Requirements:
• Education: Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 10–15 years of mechanical engineering experience in the petrochemical or oil and gas industry, with a proven track record in a PMC or lead engineer capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with mechanical design and analysis tools such as PV Elite, Compress, or Caesar II.
• Field Expertise: Strong background in the selection and application of both static equipment and high-speed rotating machinery.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng).
• Expertise in specialized equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, or cryogenic storage.
• Strong communication skills for managing interfaces between the Client, EPC Contractor, and global Vendors.
