NEOM GREEN HYDROGEN COMPANY:

Air Products has entered into a Joint Venture agreement with ACWA Power and NEOM and together established the NEOM GREEN HYDROGEN COMPANY (NGHC). The Company will be Owner and Operator of the world's first and largest green hydrogen project at an estimated capital investment of USD $ 5bn. This unique project will be a fore-runner in green hydrogen-based ammonia production and will serve the new and growing global Hydrogen markets. The facility will be sited in NEOM, KSA and will be powered by more than 4GW of renewable solar, wind and battery storage. The project is scheduled to be onstream in 2025.

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a Staff position, based at the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project Site location providing Environmental oversight at all work locations under the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company scope.

The incumbent is responsible for the development and full implementation of NEOM Green Hydrogen Company's Environmental policies and procedures. The incumbent will report directly to the EHSS Manager, working closely with site leadership and EPC Contractor to deliver a 'world-class' Environmental program, that is based on proactive management of Environmental requirements.

The incumbent is expected to have detailed knowledge of environmental regulations and management systems in addition to possessing sound knowledge of industrial Health and Safety. The incumbent will be required to become fully conversant with NEOM Environmental requirements and all aspects of the management system that relate to their duties. The ability to provide strong leadership throughout ALL phases of Construction and Commissioning and into Operations is essential.

NATURE AND SCOPE

* Description: NEOM Green Hydrogen Project consists of 3 elements: Power Elements (PE), Green Hydrogen (GHE), and Hydrogen Innovation & Development Centre (HIDC).
* Project Location: Northwest of Saudi Arabia, approx. 120km from Tabuk city

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

This position is accountable for the following:

* Ensuring the project is operating in accordance with the Saudi Arabian & NEOM environmental laws and regulations and all applicable NEOM Green Hydrogen Company environmental policies & procedures
* Develop Company Environmental Management Plan for implementation during construction, commissioning and operations phases
* Develop and implement an Environmental audit plan with a scope that monitors compliance to all applicable environmental regulations, contractual requirements and the ESIA
* Provide technical assistance on specific environmental matters to all project scopes i.e. GHE, PE and HIDC
* Responsible for ensuring all project-related environmental risks are recorded on the Company Risk Register
* Review of Contractor Environmental Management Plans (and other related plans and procedures) and commented on as necessary
* Ensure all environmental deliverables are completed within given time frame
* Company focal point during Lender's Environmental & Social Audits, including development and maintenance of action tracking register and coordination of environmental audits with Contractor and other personnel.
* Develop an Environmental Legal Register (permit & consent matrix) and establish a systematic oversight program to assure compliance with all applicable environmental laws
* Company interface point for environmental issues between NEOM and Contractor
* Develop an Environmental Management Plan that details environmental monitoring in accordance with legal and project requirements
* Ensures that adequate resources are allocated by Contractor and Company to maintain compliance with all applicable environmental requirements
* Communicates improvement opportunities within the Contractors execution Environmental Management Plans and other related environmental plans and procedures
* Ensure protection of archaeological discoveries in accordance with IFC, World Bank, Company, ESIA, NEOM and other applicable requirements
* Ensuring specific environmental risk assessments and method statements for all work activities are reviewed and commented on where necessary, prior to commencement of works
* Ensuring the Project Contractor and affected parties are directed in matters affecting emerging environmental risks
* Oversight of Contractor Water Management, including groundwater and wastewater discharge
* Monitoring Contractor chemical management
* Support incident / accident investigations in line with the established site procedures for same and ensuring accurate content and corrective action follow up
* Demonstrating a strong leadership commitment throughout the project
* Active participation in EHS promotional events, competitions, established programs
* Play an active role on the EHS Leadership Team
* Undertaking environmental inspections and audits of construction work activities on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis in line with established systems in use on the project
* Create and distribute a monthly environmental audit report to deliver project status reports and help drive continuous improvement
* Develop and track leading and lagging environmental objectives and targets
* Leading and participating in meetings involving EHS issues/incidents
* Maintaining a strong and effective professional working relationship with NEOM Green Hydrogen Company personnel, NEOM, Contractor, and other stakeholders

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Master's Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent (preferred)
* Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or equivalent
* 10+ years' experience on international mega-Projects working in an Environmental Leadership role
* Strong environmental management experience of large multi discipline sites during construction and commissioning phases
* Experienced in ESIA process
* Trained and experienced ISO Lead Auditor (9001, 14001 or 45001)
* Good team player, good communication and interpersonal skills
* Organised, disciplined, able to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities and parallel tasks
* Ability to work in a multifaceted / multinational organizational matrix with a variety of working relationships
* Willingness to travel and be based in remote location
* Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written
