Description
• Job Title : Nuclear Medicine Technologist I
• Responsible to: Supervisor, Nuclear Medicine
• Basic Function:
• Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard- Health Affairs, provide Nuclear Medicine Services and assist in the organization, supervision and coordination of Nuclear Medicine Services.

Main areas of responsibility:
• Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive drugs) to patients and monitor the concentration levels of the drugs to assist physicians in the diagnosis of certain diseases, following set safety procedures
• Operate specific machines including a gamma scintillation camera, or scanner to produce. The images on a computer screen or photographic film for a physician to examine.
• Review and comply with hospital and departmental policies and protocols. Also participate in the implementation of the departmental strategic plan and developing the policies, procedures and protocols in the Nuclear Medicine department.
• Assist and perform Nuclear Medicine procedures for all patients as requested and ensure availability of images with required information in the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) immediately after completing the procedure according to departmental protocols and standards.
• Assist in organizing, supervising, coordinating and representing the provision of Nuclear Medicine services.
• Participate in implementing a Quality Management program for Nuclear Medicine Services.
• Maintain all records required pertaining to the area of assignment equipment use and maintenance, and the amount and type of radiophaimaceuticals received, used, and disposed of.
• Ensure availability of adequate supplies and consumables in area of assignment.
• Participate in departmental in-services and lectures for staff and Radiology students.
• Coordinate care and safety of patients during Nuclear Medicine procedures.
• Ensure communication with patients and staff is meaningful and professional. Maintain patient confidentiality, rights and privacy all times.
• Cover the department during the working shifts/on calls as scheduled and during emergencies and disaster as requested.
• Follow established Radiation Protection measures for themselves, patients, other staff and the population in general.
• Set-up and operate equipment to perform Nuclear Medicine examinations/procedures according to departmental protocols and reports all equipment faults and errors to the Supervisor.
• Select the proper equipment, accessories and techniques to obtain the highest image quality.
• Fully inform patients and / or relatives as to the nature of the procedure to be performed.
• Ensure correct patient identification and site verification checks are undertaken for each examination.
• Ensure all applicable licenses and / or trainings are maintained current, including BLS certification
• Ensure new staff receives the proper level of training and orientation for the hospital, the department, and their specific workplace. Ensure all staff follows established International Patient Safety goals.
• Represent the department by attending relevant committees as delegated.
• Provide a first level of problem solving and support for work related issues.
• Perform other job related duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Radiological Sciences or related field or equivalent - E
• Current certification/registration/license to practice
• Diagnostic Radiology - E
• 6 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine - E
• English Language Skills: Level- I - E
• Computer Skills: Intermediate Level - E
