Employment: Full Time

Responsible to:Nurse Manager,Labor and Delivery

Basic Function:
Within the mission,vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard-Health Affairs, and the Division of Nursing Services,the Midwife provides antenatal,intrapartum and post partum care to medically uncomplicated pregnant women and the fetus,as well as immediate post-partum assessment of mothers and newborns to patients identified as midwifery cases.

Mainareasofresponsibility:

ClinicalPractice
• Ensures provision and coordination of patient care activities are within established hospital,division and unit specific guidelines,policies and procedures,standards and protocols,etc.
• Assumes responsibility for the management of medically uncomplicated pregnant women in the antenatal, intrapartal and postpartum periods,as ordered by the physician
• Conducts histories,physical assessments and routine antenatal examinations
• Conducts obstetrical assessments and vaginal examinations during the labor process
• Applies internal and external fetal monitors and correctly interprets CTG readings
• Performs artificial rupture of membranes
• Conducts initial assessment and care of newborn
• Takes direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations
• Documents all assessments and cares provides in a concise,accurate and complete manner in the patient chart
• Communicates patient related information to other health care team members in a timely manner
• Demonstrates effective communication and collaborative skills when interacting with patients/families,other healthcare team members and members of other departments.

Administration
• Plans,organizes,direct and evaluates the delivery of patient care

Education and Research
• Assists with the orientation and evaluation of new staff
• Participate in teaching and mentoring of Nursing,Medical and Paramedical students,Interns and Residents

Quality
• Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe environment
• Works with health care team members in activities designed for the improvement of patient care outcomes
• Complies with and participates in Quality Improvement processes and activities
• Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols

Performs other job related duties as required.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current Nursing License - E
• Diploma in Nursing (Western Standard) - E
• Post graduate Midwifery Certificate from College/University - E
• Minimum of five (5) years current nursing experience including three (3) years current midwifery experience - E
• English Language Skills: Level I - E
• Computer Skills: Level III - E
