Our client is a startup enterprise in the field of retail home décor and will be based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia servicing the Saudi market. As a subsidiary of a major international conglomerate of companies from Saudi Arabia, this newly created firm will be responsible to ensure the implementation of the business plan, the establishment and opening of the Home Décor Retailer stores in KSA (and Middle East) and management of the operation and expansion. This role will also be responsible to participate in the negotiation with the international brand (a prestigious company with an outstanding reputation in the Home Décor Retail market).

Reporting to the Board and CEO and as a key member of the leadership team, this role is responsible for the following:

Start Up Phase
• Participate and contribute on the assessment of the market opportunity (KSA & GCC).
• Participate in the construction of the business plan and provide inputs to the local Shareholders.
• Contribute with the strategy and deployment of the first and subsequent HDR’s stores in the region.
• Identify, recruit and build the team (first opening).

Operational Phase
• Overall business management of all product categories within the HDR.
• Overall business management of stores.
• Overseeing operations with the objective of maximizing sales and profits.
• Analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats vis-a-vis competition.
• Liaise and maintain relationships with the international brand.
• Liaise with Suppliers / Logistics.
• Determine merchandise/furniture buying requirements and formulate buying plan and budget.
• Ensure the merchandise procured and received meets the quality standards set.

Requirements

The attributes we seek include the following:

• A Degree qualification is required plus candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years’ retail experience with 3 years’ exposure to the HDR and GCC market.
• The proven performer we seek will have strong leadership skills, be goal oriented and have a proven track record of achieving results.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the candidate being active in taking ownership of this development project.
• Branded experience is essential with candidates requiring experience in concept development and project roll out.
• Bilingual language skills in English and Arabic is essential.
