Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Assistant head nurse supports the nurse manager and other staff and patients simultaneously. She schedules healthcare activities for various patients in the facility and preparing admission records of patients. She allots the shifts and duties to the nurses and revises the schedule on a weekly basis or if a nurse is not available during the shift. This individual has to streamline the processes of a healthcare facility and ensure that a high standard is maintained in every operation of the nursing department. An assistant head nurse has to recruit new staff and authenticate the documents submitted by them such as registration and experience certificate. She works in close coordination with a doctor or team of doctors and other specialists in the facility and fulfills the manpower and material requirements. It is expected that the assistant head nurse keeps a track on the consumption of medical and surgical supplies and maintains adequate stocks for any emergency arising in the facility.

Responsibilities

- Assist Head Nurse in coordinating and facilitating patient care services according to established standards.
- Plan and schedule daily work for nursing staffs.
- Coordinate with Head Nurse in development of department budgets and goals.
- Identify areas of improvements and implement corrective plans.
- Supervise and guide nurses in providing quality patient care to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Ensure nursing staffs follow hospital policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with Head Nurse in management of patient care units.
- Assist in candidate recruiting, training, performance evaluation, promotion and termination activities.
- Schedule orientation and educational programs for newly hired nurses.

Requirements

Qualifications

- Nationals of EURO, USA, Canada, Australia, & South Africa
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing BSN
- All other western / South African Nursing Diploma's are accepted.
- Minimum of 3 years experience
- The applicant must have a valid professional license to practice, or registration (where applicable) from home country and/or country of last employment.
- Must have Good standing status.
