Summary:
The Industrial-Organizational (I-O) Psychologist will apply psychological principles and research methods to improve the overall work environment, enhance employee well-being, and increase organizational effectiveness. This role will focus on areas such as employee selection and training, organizational development, performance management, workplace health and safety (including mental health), and creating a positive and productive work culture.
Responsibilities:
- Job Analysis and Design: Conduct job analyses to identify essential job functions, skills, and competencies required for various roles. Develop job descriptions and specifications.
- Employee Selection and Placement: Develop and validate selection tools (e.g., assessments, interviews) to ensure the hiring of qualified candidates who are a good fit for the organization and its culture.
- Training and Development: Design, implement, and evaluate training programs to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and performance. This includes training on topics such as leadership development, communication skills, and stress management.
- Performance Management: Develop and implement performance appraisal systems that are fair, accurate, and aligned with organizational goals. Provide feedback and coaching to managers on performance management best practices.
- Organizational Development: Diagnose organizational issues and design interventions to improve organizational effectiveness, including team building, change management, and conflict resolution.
- Workplace Health and Safety (including Mental Health): Develop and implement programs to promote employee well-being, reduce workplace stress, prevent burnout, and foster a psychologically safe work environment. This includes:
- Conducting assessments of workplace stressors and developing interventions to mitigate them.
- Developing and delivering training on mental health awareness, stress management, and resilience.
- Collaborating with HR and other departments to create policies and practices that support employee mental health.
- Employee Surveys and Data Analysis: Design and administer employee surveys to assess employee attitudes, morale, and engagement. Analyze data and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Research and Evaluation: Conduct research to evaluate the effectiveness of organizational interventions and contribute to the field of I-O psychology.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Provide consultation to managers and employees on a variety of organizational issues. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., HR, Legal, Operations) to achieve organizational goals.
- Stay current on best practices and research in the field of I-O psychology, particularly as it relates to workplace mental health and well-being.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or a closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of psychological principles, research methods, and statistical analysis.
- Experience in applying I-O psychology principles in a workplace setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consulting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with survey design, data analysis, and report writing.
- Knowledge of employment law and regulations.
- Experience in developing and implementing mental health and well-being programs is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certification (e.g., SIOP membership).
- Experience in a specific industry relevant to the company.
