Petroleum Engineering Consultant Sustainability Champion

Saudi Aramco

Saudi Arabia

Ref: KP658-237

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Aramco energizes the world economy.

Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.

With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.

Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.

We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
Overview

Saudi Aramco seeks an experienced and recognized researcher to join the Reservoir Engineering Technology Team within EXPEC Advanced Research Center (EXPEC ARC) based in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The position is grounded on a framework of circular carbon economy to map current technologies, identify new opportunities, and leverage research to ultimately help our Upstream proponents reduce their carbon emissions. The candidate must be able to initiate and lead research projects in upstream sustainability with specific focus on CO2 emission reduction technologies. This includes undertaking and supervising research and development tasks including lab studies, feasibility studies, field trials and ultimately field deployment. Should be able to direct fundamental studies related to CO2 sequestration in oil and gas reservoirs, aquifers, basaltic rocks, or any other related topic. Focus on reservoir mechanisms including interfacial phenomena, flow in porous media, CO2 interactions and phase behavior, and displacement experiments. Must also be familiar with reservoir engineering knowhow, simulation, economics, risk/uncertainty analysis, and operations of sustainability projects including pilots. The position also includes leading technical and multi-disciplinary teams and training junior scientists and engineers. An important aspect of this position is the ability to work closely with our field proponents, with a strong emphasis for field deployment.
