Overview

We are seeking an experienced qualified analyst to join our Upstream Finance and performance department. This position is part of a segment level finance team that plays a critical role within Upstream Finance, providing control, oversight and assurance of the planning, management and efficiency of the segment planning through ongoing scrutiny, benchmarking and continual improvement recommendations.

As part of the team the individual will be responsible for providing evaluation and decision support on Upstream segment and Corporate initiatives through financial and performance analysis, ensuring in-depth understanding of financial valuation, risks and overall impacts on segment portfolio and financials.

Provides staff assistance in Upstream operational analysis, planning and programs activities. This includes budgets, accountability, performance indices, cost control, contracts and technical or business analysis projects. Responsible for the preparation and design of high level and special reports, providing analysis of business-related activities, coordinating administrative activities, and performing special studies as required and as appropriate related to organization performance measurements and functional key performance indicators.

The incumbent keeps Upstream Finance director and division heads informed of cost trends or special and unusual problems encountered, and provides problem definition and solution as assigned.

Supervision is generally limited to outline of overall objectives to be achieved, and is available as required

Frequent communication with Admin Areas to develop information, review plans, establish accountability, and coordinate ongoing staff efforts. Contacts with outside upstream organizations such as Finance, development and strategy and other service provider organizations and those related to the Business Line activity for reporting requirements, exchange of information or to resolve problems...

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and support capital and operating expenditure cost allocation decisions for the Upstream segment through ongoing scrutiny, striking the right balance between challenge and support for segment admin areas case submissions.

Provides analytical findings & recommendations relating to regular P&PM tasks such as business plan preparation, performance tracking and measurement, and performance analysis and accountability reporting. Conducts special P&PM-related studies such as the development of performance initiatives and business cases, benchmarking, risk management, design and re-design of measurements, processes and workflows, and information system-related changes.

Develop new financials models or review segment related models providing economic insights on earnings, investments and energy market matters.

Develop benchmarking analysis to identify value opportunities.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or a related discipline. Seven (12) years related experience is required.

Solid knowledge and understanding of management accounting, finance and Excel is required. Demonstrated capability and track record in the practice of planning & performance management and in the use of business intelligence tools are required. Possession of an advanced business degree (e.g., MBA) and/or relevant professional certification (e.g., CMA, CFA, CPA) is preferred.
