Primary Science Teacher

A new state of the art school in Riyadh is looking for an experienced Primary science teacher to join their new team.

The school serves boarding and day students with a world class education and providing a strong focus on co-curricular activities. The school's vision is to create a genuinely twenty first century learning environment in which highly experienced teaching staff use project based learning and a range of other proven instructional teaching methodologies to equip Saudi youth with the cognitive, academic and social skills that they require in order to gain entry to the best higher education institutes across the world and to become pioneers of the Kingdom's future.

The school is planning to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum, beginning with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Requirements

- Teaching certification from an accredited institution and minimum three years of experience in the elementary classroom; international experience preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of the PYP Programme
- Experience in teaching and learning in the PYP setting
- Knowledge and ability in unit writing, specifically PYP Units of Inquiry and backwards design
- Awareness of students developmental needs and learning capacities

JOB PERFORMANCE STANDARDS, INDICATORS & MEASURE:
- Instructional Planning - The Teacher plans using the PYP framework, effective strategies, resources and data to meet the needs of all students.
- Instructional Delivery - The teacher effectively engages students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies in order to meet individual learning needs.
- Assessment of Learning Results - The teacher systematically gathers, analyzes and uses data to measure student progress, guide instruction and provide timely feedback.
- Learning Environment - The teacher uses resources, routines and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe student centred environment that is conducive to learning.
- Professionalism - The teacher maintains a commitment to professional ethics, international mindedness, the PYP Programme and the school's mission; and takes responsibility for the participates in professional growth that results in enhancement of student learning.
