Overview

We are seeking a Project Management Specialist to provide expert advice and guidance in one or more specialized areas of project management, including but not limited to project planning, project execution, and project controls.

The project management departments manage and execute projects usually from multiple site offices or engineering contractor design offices, geographically scattered throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The increasing complexity and size of Saudi Aramco's capital program requires availability of in-house experts in various specialized knowledge areas within the broad scope of project management functions and responsibilities.

As a Project Management Specialist, you will utilize your extensive experience and knowledge to optimize project planning, improve design and construction quality, and improve project costs and schedules. You will be assigned to support projects that may range in size from tens of millions to several hundred million dollars. You will use your expertise to help the company achieve best in class performance in the execution of its capital program.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance in project planning, project execution, and project control.
  • Assist in resolving project management problems related to your area of expertise, including project planning deficiencies, project quality defects (in engineering, procurement, or construction), schedule slippages, and potential cost overruns.
  • Work closely with project engineers and other project professionals to provide work direction and guidance.
  • Formulate and implement strategies to improve project planning, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Evaluate existing tools and methodologies in your area of expertise and make recommendations on their implementation at Saudi Aramco.
  • Lead internal or external problem-solving teams as directed by management.
  • Conduct training courses in your area of expertise.
  • Train and mentor developing engineers and other project management professionals.
  • Participate in the development of standards, guidelines, instructions, policies, and procedures on an as-required basis.
  • Participate in the reviews and evaluation of the capabilities of engineering and construction (E&C) contractors, suppliers, and project management-related service providers.
  • Keep abreast of advances in your area of expertise by attending conferences, seminars, and through contacts with other industry experts.

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate, you will hold a:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business, plus significant postgraduate participation in technical or project management-related seminars. Preferably an MS, MBA, or higher degree is desirable, but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the project management field.
  • Professional certification by AACE, PMI, or the professional engineering boards.
  • Must be capable of evaluating and consulting on project problems where precedents are lacking or on problems where a high degree of specialized knowledge is required.
