Job description / Role
We are seeking a Purchasing Manager with proven expertise in interior design and fit-out projects, including turnkey interior construction. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in sourcing complex items and materials used in interior construction and finishing works, including mechanical, electrical, and IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Material Expertise: Understanding of materials and finishes used in commercial interior projects such as hotels, corporate offices, fine dining restaurants, resorts, cafes etc.
• Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with reliable vendors, secure credit terms, and develop structured payment plans for vendors and subcontractors.
• Procurement Planning: Efficiently source and procure high-quality materials within specified timelines and budgets.
• Competitive Pricing: Obtain the best competitive prices for items from both local and international markets.
• Import Procedures: Manage and oversee the procedures for importing items from international suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulations and smooth delivery.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Explain and oversee tasks for subcontractors, carpenters, and fabricators, ensuring clarity and alignment with project requirements.
• Problem Solving: Address procurement-related challenges, including last-minute material adjustments, to maintain project schedules.
Requirements:
• Any engineering degree (preferably civil, construction, architectural)
• Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role, preferably within the construction sectors.
• Strong understanding of supply chain management principles and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful vendor management.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in team management.
