Job description

Visually and manually examining raw materials and finished goods, and using machines to test products.
Comparing objects to their intended physical specifications.
Looking for deviations from specifications or other issues.
Accepting or rejecting materials based on their quality, and returning products for rework.
Informing production supervisors of any required adjustments, and sharing inspection results with others.
Completing reports and logs, summarizing waste and rework, and entering data into a quality database.

Job duties

Responsible for the quality of the parts made on their designated shift.

Maintain the highest quality work to continuously ensure customer satisfaction.

Assist in training of press operators.

Assure operators have read, understood, and signed daily work instructions (DWI).

Assure that obsolete instructions at workstations are removed.

Assure that operators are placing labels on boxes correctly.

Approve initial production parts after production start-up (dimensional, aesthetic, packaging, labeling, etc.).

Ensure boundary sample(s) are made and are at the operator workstation and that operators are familiar with them.

Communicate and work with process technicians and supervisors to ensure that high-quality parts are being produced.

Perform and document statistical process control (SPC) data collection including charting.

Inspect randomly and, if needed, 100% of product both on and off the line.

Perform and document gage repeatability and reproducibility (R&R).

Travel to customer location and perform rework and sorting as needed.

Assist in gathering, documenting, and approving first piece and last piece.

Job requirements

Two-year degree with an emphasis in statistics, math, or science.

Communicate effectively with colleagues and management, both verbally and in writing.
