Quantity Surveyor

Job description / Role

• Assist in reviewing the work program and submittals proposed by the contractor
• Read and understand the contents and details of the bill of quantities for each project as well as the preamble to the bill of quantities, and any other documents relating to payments to the contractor
• Discuss and attempt to reach a mutual agreement with the contractor on rates for new work items that are not covered in the Bill of Quantities and submit rates to the Project Manager for review
• Review the specifications, Bill of Quantities and drawings and advise the Project Manager of any differences and/or discrepancies in Contract documents for methods of measurements,
• Review claims submitted by the Contractor and submit a report to the Project Manager for approval
• Review quantities executed by contractors against drawings, measurement sheets and invoices for discrepancies and differences
• Monitor contractor’s work on-site and in maintaining daily site diary
• Monitor the contractor’s daily activities and resources allocation against the plan
• Develop periodic project progress reports in coordination with the Associate Project Manager and site teams
• Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports, as needed
• Ensure that As-Built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranty certificates are provided accurately by the contractor
• Prepare commissioning reports and snag lists during the Handover and Defects Liability Period

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Required to Execute the Role:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Chartered or Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is desirable
• Knowledge of construction supervision services
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Good financial planning and budgeting skills
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good time management skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Experience Required to Execute the Role:
• At least 15 years of experience (10+ years for Saudi Nationals) with demonstrated experience in multi-million dollar Buildings Projects in a contracting company or a construction supervision function
• Previous Saudi Aramco experience is preferred
• Demonstrated experience with FIDIC Clauses
• Experience within the Middle East
