Description
• Unit Description: Ante/Post Partum/Normal Newborn Nursery
• No. Of Beds: 24 Ante Natal / Gynecology / Gynecological Oncology
• 20 Post Natal
• 16 Cots

Nurse Patient Ratio:
• Ante Natal 1 : 6
• Post Natal 1 : 6

Scope of Service:
• All aspects of high risk ante natal care, post natal care and well baby care. Gynecological care is provided to women from adolescent to geriatric. Patients are managed collaboratively from admission to discharge by a multidisciplinary team within a cohesive framework of policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and by-laws. Standard precautions are followed in the care of all patients. Isolation procedures may also be initiated based on the clinical status of the patient, the presence of specific diseases and in response to expert advice from the Infection Prevention and Control Department. During times of bed shortage, the unit may be required to accept overflow patients from another service, eg Medical, surgical, Ophthalmology Patients, including Palliative and End Of Life Care This is coordinated with Medical, Nursing and Admissions on a case by case basis.

• Blood Products Administration
• Discharge Planning
• Multidisciplinary Referrals
• Hours of Operation
• 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
• Criteria for Admission to Service
• National Guard eligible dependents (Eligibility 2)
• Staff members and eligible dependents (Eligibility 3&4)
• Business Centre admissions (insurance cases or personally funded)
• Life or limb threatening (Eligibility 5)

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current Nursing license - E
• Diploma in Nursing (Western standard) - Essential
• Two (2) years current clinical experience in specific area of practice - E
• Specific Certification as Required in area of assignment - E
• English Language Skills: Level I - E
• Computer Skills: Proficient - E
