The facility includes the largest dedicated Children's Hospital in the Middle East which opened in June 2015. A state-of-the art developments such as Cardiac and Liver Center; Emergency Care and Trauma Center continues to be the best Trauma Care Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is ranked as the 4th Emergency Care Center outside the United States of America, to provide (PHTLS) Pre-Hospital Trauma and Life Support program. Dental, Ambulatory (Outpatient) Care, Long Term Care/ Rehabilitation, Other adult and pediatric services provided include: Surgical and Medical wards, Oncology. Obstetrics and Gynecology (Labor and Delivery, Oncology, Antenatal and Post Partum wards); Oncology, Neonatal ICU, Operating Rooms, Ambulatory Care Center, Home Health Care Program, VIP Wards, Royal Suite, College of Medicine and Nursing College.

Unit Name: Intermediate Care Nursery (ICN) - Level II Specialty

Patient Population
Level II Neonates - 32 weeks gestation - Term

Hours Of Operation: 24 hours / 7 days per week

Number Of Beds 28

Primary Patient
Diagnoses
• Pre-terms (1300 grams) and above, newborns from 32 term gestation,
• Jaundice mild RDS, congenital, malformations with stable cardiorepiratory status, feeding intolerance, babies at risk of infection and growing preterm with physiological immaturity such as gynae of prematurity, inability to maintain body
• temperature or an inability to take and feeds or moderately ill with problems expected to resolve.
• Babies convalescing from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Procedures
• Routine and Emergency Patient Care
• Neonatal Resuscitation
• Newborn Physical Assessment
• Airway Management & Oxygen Administration (Non ventilatory support)
• Non-invasive cardiac, respiratory, BP & oxygen saturation monitoring
• Medication Administration
• IV Therapy, TPN, & lipid. Blood and Blood Product Administration
• Phototherapy
• Isolation Procedures
• Blood sampling (Capillary, Venous)
• Care of Patients requiring Conscious Sedation
• Pre and post operative care
• Neonatal Transport
• Promotion of Breastfeeding
• Falls Prevention Programme
• Wound, Skin Care, Pressure Ulcer Prevention
• Pain Management
• Family Education
