Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Chronic Pain (C-2)

HOURS OF OPERATIONS
24 hours daily, 7 days a week

SCOPE OF SERVICE
There are 34 beds on this Unit specifically designated to Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery and Chronic Painservice patients. The Unit provides nursing care primarily to adult and pediatric patients with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases who require complex diagnostic work-up, major complex surgery or treatment follow-up. The Unit also provides clinical rotation to Nursing Interns, Graduates and Students,as well as Medical students-interns, residents and fellows.

• Management and care of Adult and Pediatric patients with orthopedic conditions
• Major Joint replacements
• Tumor resections
• Soft Tissue releases
• Scoliosis - anterior and posterior resections
• Brachial Plexus repair
• Spinal cord stimulator insertion
• Adult spine surgery
• Osteogenesis Imperfecta treatment
• Minimal invasive surgical procedures for adult spine
• Sports injuries-arthroscopies: knees and shoulders
• Management and care of post-plastic surgery patients
• Abdominoplasty and liposuction
• Breast augmentation, reduction and mammoplasty
• Pressure sore management
• Serial burn reconstruction
• Hemangioma patients e.g. debulking
• Septorhinoplasty
• Tissue expander
• Cleft lip and palate repair
• Congenital defect repair, e.g. syndactyly
• Flaps & skin grafts for microvascular surgery
• Tendon transfer
• VAC therapy application for complicated wounds
• Management and care of Chronic Pain patients
• Spinal Cord Stimulator
• Intrathecal Baclofen pumps
• Sacral Nerve Stimulation
• Celiac Blocks for facial palsy
• Radiofrequency Ablation for trigeminal neuralgia patients
• Central line management
• Continuous and intermittent pain management: (PCA and epidural)
• Management of patients requiring hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current nursing license from country of origin
• Two years recent acute care nursing experience in orthopaedics
