UNIT NAME:
• Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

PATIENT POPULATION:
• All age group; mixed gender Post surgical/procedural patients

HOURS OF OPERATION:
• 24 hours / 7 days per week

NUMBER OF BEDS:
• 16 and 3 in Labour and Delivery

OCCUPANCY RATE:
• 1000 cases per month

STAFF CATEGORIES:

PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES:
• General Surgery
• Gynecology / OB
• Genito-Urology
• Orthopedics
• Plastics
• Burns/plasVic and reconstruction surgery
• Neurosurgery
• Thoracic
• Vascular
• Ophthalmology
• ENT
• Maxillofacial surgery
• Dental Surgery
• Pediatrics
• Organ Transplants (e.g. kidney)
• Laser Surgery
• Minimally Invasive Procedures (laparoscopic/endoscopic/robotic)
• Trauma
• C-Sections

PROCEDURES:

Post Anesthetic Recovery care of post surgical/procedural patients who had received:
• General Anesthesia
• Regional - Spinal. Epidural, Caudal..etc.
• I.V. Sedation (MAC)
• Local Anesthetic

Requirements

• Registered Nurse with current Nursing license
• A minimum of (2) years current clinical experience in specific area of practice
