Road Safety Engineer

Job description / Role

Linum Consult’s client is a multi-disciplinary consultancy working closely with the Government of Saudi Arabia to develop the infrastructure of Dammam. They are currently seeking a Road Safety Engineer to be seconded to a major client on a yearly, renewable contract.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing technical support to the Traffic Safety Unit in Dammam
- Undertaking accident investigation, traffic analysis, road safety audits and Traffic Impact Assessments
- Carrying out technical traffic safety engineering tasks as directed by the Unit Manager; suggesting possible engineering & traffic control treatments and other solutions to municipalities and the Ministry of Transportation
- Following international standards while considering the specific characteristics of roads and drivers in Saudi Arabia
- Carrying out site visits and regular inspections throughout the Dammam road network area as required
- Ensuring that design standards, work requirements, and road work traffic management regulations are carried out to the latest Ministry of Transportation standards and specifications, as well as international codes and standards
- Liaising with all stakeholders and the Road Safety Council on strategic safety matters
- Ensuring that construction Traffic Management Standards are followed up in all disrupted existing Traffic Movements during road construction zones
- Developing a highway safety programme and accident remedial schemes
- Conducting and assisting in the local staff training requirements and making recommendations for all necessary training requirements

Requirements

- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or similar
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Traffic Safety Engineering, with a strong bias in GIS and Excel
- Strong technical understanding of Traffic Impact Assessments
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East, preferably
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
