Safety Officer

Job description / Role

• Audits compliance with Saudi Aramco loss prevention requirements to minimize losses to Saudi Aramco, the public and the contractor.
• Prepares and implements an effective loss control program and safety program including corrective action procedures.
• Continuous inspection of project sites, to ensure a hazard-free environment
• Assessment and approval of subcontractor safety plans
• Verification of tools and equipment to ensure good quality
• Promoting safe practices on site
• Creating and enforcing safety guidelines and programs
• Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations
• Conducting investigations on accidents
• Responding to workers’ safety concerns
• Manages all communications with all stakeholders
• Arranges OSHA-mandated evaluations of the site
• Coordinates all issues regarding hazardous materials or waste
• Assisting with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan
• Attending project planning meetings and collaborating with construction managers
• Establishing and maintaining health and safety communication structures
• Testing the effectiveness of site emergency response plans
• Continuous monitoring of all safety-related documents, reports, and issues to keep them updated.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills Required to Execute the Role
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar safety degree
• Member of a recognized professional safety society such as the institute of industrial safety officers is desirable
• Must have a thorough knowledge of international safety standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of construction supervision services
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good time management skills
• Good team player, Self-confident, motivated, and independent individual
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Experience Required to Execute the Role
• At least 15 years of experience (10+ years for Saudi Nationals) with demonstrated experience in multi-million dollar Buildings Projects in a contracting company or a construction supervision function
• Previous Saudi Aramco experience is preferred
• Experience within the Middle East
