Senior Accountant

Job description / Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the maintenance and reconciliation of General Ledger and Sub Ledger accounts, as well as performing variance analysis and month end reporting.

• Reconcile General Ledger accounts and investigate outstanding items monthly
• Ensure company compliance with local accounting standards
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly
• Prepare monthly reports for management as required
• Analyze monthly account variances to prior periods and/or the budget
• Prepare journal entries to correct outstanding items
• Record daily transactions in the accounting system and reconcile with third party records
• Assist in the coding and allocation of transactions
• Calculate intercompany charges and allocations
• Fixed asset management
• Assist in monthly/quarterly tax filings
• Ensure accuracy with all data
• Liaise with third party consultants as required

Experience and Skills

• 4+ years of experience in general accounting roles
• Knowledge of local statutory tax requirements
• Previous Oil and Gas experience and/or working within finance an asset
• Fluent in English; Knowledge of Arabic is an asset
• Experience with Business Central preferred and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Knowledge of local GAAP principles required

Education and Training
• University degree in Accounting
