Job description / Role
Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Architect to support the NEOM The Line project on a permanent basis in KSA.
Overview
The Senior Architect will oversee the full spectrum of architectural design for various asset types related to THE LINE project, ensuring innovative, high-quality, and sustainable outcomes. This role is based on-site in KSA at NEOM and entails leading architecture design efforts, collaborating across disciplines, and driving excellence from concept to completion.
Responsibilities
Design Leadership
• Manage and lead architectural design for diverse typologies, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, public, healthcare, educational, and cultural projects.
• Drive the creative design process with a focus on aesthetic and functional excellence.
• Supervise architectural production through all design stages: pre-concept, concept, developed, and detailed design.
• Conduct and lead qualitative architectural design reviews, providing actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
Project Management
• Oversee project scope, schedules, and objectives, ensuring alignment with client requirements and design standards.
• Support the integration of multidisciplinary design packages and ensure compliance with safety, sustainability, and statutory requirements.
• Draft and manage comprehensive architectural documentation from concept through detailed design phases.
• Ensure alignment with THE LINE's vision, asset briefs, and design manuals.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Oversee and manage Architects, Designers, Managers, and Professionals within the department.
• Collaborate with THE LINE Design Group, Delivery teams, and Project teams on design delivery and execution.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering complex, high-profile projects.
• Build consensus among team members, ensuring effective contributions and teamwork.
Technical & Strategic Oversight
• Provide strategic guidance on technical design standards, sustainable design practices, and risk management.
• Oversee technical compliance throughout the design and construction phases.
• Prepare and track relevant Capex documentation and manage budgets effectively.
• Solve design challenges creatively while adhering to financial and operational constraints.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as part of THE LINE Senior Management team, engaging with stakeholders to deliver project objectives.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, contractors, and NEOM departments to ensure project alignment.
Requirements:
Knowledge
• Comprehensive understanding of financial and commercial project management.
• Expertise in international standards, codes, and procedures, with a focus on risk management and scope definition.
• Strong knowledge of statutory authority requirements, sustainable design principles, and holistic urban design.
Skills
• Exceptional conceptual and aesthetic design skills.
• Proficient in software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, Grasshopper, and V-Ray (preferred).
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with experience managing large-scale multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills in English.
Experience
• 22+ years of architectural design and management experience post-undergraduate.
• Proven track record in managing international design consultants and delivering high-profile projects.
• Experience across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, public, healthcare, and educational designs.
• Construction experience is preferred, with demonstrated success in complex, large-scale programs.
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s Degree: B.Arch or B.Sc. in Architecture from a recognized university.
• Postgraduate Degree: In Architecture or Urban Design (preferred).
• International accreditations (RIBA, AIA, or equivalent).
• Sustainability certifications (LEED, PQP, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
