Senior Architect - Design Consultancy

Job description / Role

As part of a multi-disciplinary project design team, responsibilities will involve development of architectural designs for a variety of building types, including residential, commercial, corporate and mixed use developments, from initial concept and preliminary design to final design and tender documentation level. The appointment will entail acting in a leadership role to provide direction and guidance to intermediate and junior architects.

Suitable candidates will have a Bachelor degree in architecture and a minimum of 10 years’ experience since graduation, some of which would preferably have been gained in the Middle East.

A thorough knowledge of all aspects of the building design process, including in-depth knowledge of architectural construction materials their application as well as knowledge of construction detailing and the preparation of design documentation, including schedules and specifications is essential. An understanding of the engineering requirements of projects and the coordination of these into the architectural design are also essential aspects of the position.

Requirements

Skills:

- The candidate will be highly proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit and Adobe creative suite. Experience with 3D Max and Rhino, would be beneficial but not essential.
- Candidates must be conversant with international codes and standards for building design and be familiar with quality assurance/quality control procedures applicable to a design
- The candidate will regularly follow trends in architecture and urban design so that own work and ideas are of an ‘international’ caliber and level of sophistication, and in order to incorporate the latest technology and operational needs.
- The candidate will be fluent in English.
- Managing Reporting to the Chief Architect and Head of the Architectural Department, other responsibilities will include:
- The candidate will be able to interface with other disciplines, consultants, contractors.
- The candidate will manage technical team resources
- Manage adherence to the procedures described in the design manual
- Demonstrate proficiency in time management and constantly seek to streamline processes and procedures in order to increase quality and efficiency
- Manage the quality and timeliness of service delivery
- Be organized; work oriented, systematic, and thorough
