Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a Sr Business Development Consultant to join our Downstream Origination Department. Downstream Growth and Development (DG&D) implements the Company's downstream growth strategy through the development of profitable investment opportunities, mergers & acquisitions (M&A) and joint venture partnerships in the areas of integrated refining and petrochemicals, marketing, retail, lubricants, and other areas of the downstream business. Downstream Origination Department (DOD) identifies, evaluates, screens, reviews, and recommends global business development opportunities in line with the downstream strategy and in coordination with other Admin areas within the Downstream business.

You will be responsible for screening and origination of potential investment opportunities in the areas of refining, petrochemicals, trading, retail business, logistics, storage, and lubricants segments as well as executing approved transactions including initiation and management of due diligence, valuation, structuring, and negotiations of proposed deals.

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

  • Manage business development process from screening through deal closure and drive screening and validation activities to progress proposals through stage gates.
  • Establish and manage a performance management process to measure success against set strategy and objectives and represent Saudi Aramco and the Kingdom in professional societies, standard committees, and conferences.
  • Prepare reviews and present Management Committee briefs, provide administrative direction to Business Development Analysts, Specialists, and Managers, and prepare job performance appraisals, reviews, and recommend job promotions.
  • Ensure that proper documentation is maintained on all business venture development work.
  • Prioritize business proposals against investment criteria and DOD portfolio strategy, and determine the scope and objectives of the deal, offering commercial and technical solutions that make up Saudi Aramco's business offering.
  • Approve contract payments and variations within authority limit and drive the active sourcing of new business ideas and proposals by establishing a network of partners (industry, educational institutions, investment banks).
  • Build and continuously improve strong relationships with prospective investors and continuously review and recommend changes to criteria used in screening and validating new business proposals.
  • Act as a Deal Closer and mobilize the investor's senior management to resolve the few remaining issues before major commitment points are reached and play a pivotal role in resolving the last few major issues during final contract negotiations.

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Business and Management or Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 17 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, business development, transaction execution, and project financing.
  • Preference for transaction execution and leading negotiations of definitive documents experience.
  • Preference for downstream industry experience (refining, petrochemicals, retail, lubricants), noting that products trading experience may not be considered relevant for the role.
  • Project financing experience is preferred.
  • Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience presenting investment business cases to senior leadership is preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) are preferred.
  • Industry expertise and knowledge of specific venturing activities such as commercialization, spin-offs or joint venturing, project development, financial valuations and modeling, facilities planning, strategy development, or relevant experience.
  • An excellent understanding of projects economic models, financial analysis of companies and valuation methodologies; commercial principles of a transaction; different types of transactions.
