Senior Engineer - Structural Engineering

Job description / Role

Senior Structural Engineer is in-charge of the technical aspects of structural steel activities of medium to high complexity projects in K&A. He works closely with Project Managers for the review and validation of deliverables and monitors the checking and reviews of all phases and ensures the proper implementation of all related adjustments and revisions. The jobholder conducts value engineering in coordination with the Project Manager. He shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in the structural field and represent the firm in the professional engineering community, as needed.

• Oversee and direct the construction of structural steel components in the project
• Ensuring adherence to design specifications, building regulations, and safety protocols
• Evaluate and authorize structural shop drawings, material submissions, and construction methods while conducting regular site inspections to assess progress and quality
• Address and resolve any structural steel engineering challenges that may arise during the construction phase, collaborating closely with project managers, architects, and other engineering teams to ensure successful project outcomes
• Additionally, prepare and review technical documentation, including structural calculations and analyses, while mentoring junior engineers to support their professional growth
• Maintain communication with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure all project requirements are fulfilled, and implement quality control measures for structural Steel engineering activities, staying informed about industry trends, innovative construction practices, and local building codes

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• 15+ years of industry experience required
• In depth knowledge of structural engineering; experience in structural design in a top tier regional / multinational engineering consultancy firm
• Exposure to global best practices and trends in the structural design domain
• Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
• Knowledge of structural engineering-related rules and regulations in the Middle East
• Excellent communication skills and ability to represent the organization in diverse forums
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage
