POSITION SUMMARY

Air Products is looking for a Senior Piping Engineer with experience in Piping Layout, Piping Materials and Piping Stress calculations to work in the Engineering Organization located in their office in Dhahran Techno Valley, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The successful candidate will be required to have a good approach to health, safety and environment and can work across multi discipline teams as well as different cultures around the world. We are looking for a candidate with good communication skills in both verbal and written English and all-round flexibility to commit time and effort to achieve project requirements.

He/she shall be effective in promoting and supporting all aspects of the work done in the Department using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.

The ability to travel when required, both to job sites and other engineering offices in the UK, US, India and China on a planned basis.
The successful candidate will be required to work independently and serving in a lead position, in which he/she assist the Project Manager, Business Development and Sales in Client contacts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Knowledgeable technology source for Piping Layout, Materials and Piping Stress.
• Prepares and reviews engineering studies, design drawings and documents, material specifications and stress calculations.
• Prepare and review technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase.
• Review and interface with (local) supplier data to assure specifications and project requirements are met.
• Provide technical direction for piping material selection.
• Coordinate client requirements and standards for piping layout and materials.
• Provide technical support to project management, vendors, field engineering and construction.
• Interface with local authorities and implement local requirements and legislation in all related project documentation.
• Managing outsourced work of 3rd party Engineering Companies
• Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards.
• Participates in planning, cost development, management and scheduling activities for assigned projects
• Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• The Piping Engineer shall hold a B. Sc. Engineering Degree.
• 10+ years of total related experience in piping engineering and design is required.
• General knowledge in piping engineering used in the following technology is recommended:
• Cryogenic Air separation and liquefaction
• Cryogenic hydrocarbon and natural gas separation and liquefaction
• Helium recovery, purification/liquefaction
• Adsorption separation/purification systems
• Steam-methane reforming
• High-temperature catalysis
• Absorption systems
• Partial oxidation/gasification
• CO2 purification/liquefaction
• Experience in various phases of supplier selection and technical negotiation
• Site refinery and/or chemical plant facility construction experience
• Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods. design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Have knowledge in the use of industry wide design software packages like SP3D, Caesar etc.
• Bring experience to suggest new economical ways in designing the work – identify problem areas in the work practices and suggest improvements based on feedback and own previous experience.
