Job description / Role
The Senior Project Manager - IFRS 9 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be responsible to lead the IFRS 9 implementation project in the bank through a detailed understanding of IFRS 9 requirements and their implications. The role includes the implementation of presentation and measurement requirements for financial instruments under IFRS 9 and coordinating the impairment work stream with the Risk project manager.
The Senior Project Manager - IFRS 9 will be responsible for the following:
* Work closely with the IFRS 9 project team and internal stakeholders (Finance and Risk) to achieve successful implementation for the bank within defined timelines
* Identify specific local interpretation or requirements especially for Islamic projects that might deviate or be in addition to IFRS 9 Group/MENA approach
* Conduct monthly IFRS 9 steering committee meeting and ensure project plan and related packs are updated and circulated.
* Conduct monthly IFRS 9 working group meetings and ensure that all high risk issues are promptly identified and escalated to steering committee where necessary.
* Work closely with Risk project manager to understand the progress of impairment work stream and compile progress update for IFRS 9 steering committee
* Be part of the SAMA IFRS 9 working group and ensure all queries and reporting requirements posed by the local regulatory authorities are adequately addressed with satisfactory responses
* Provide guidance and communication on IFRS 9 project implementation progress for the bank
* Be the point of contact for Finance for IFRS 9 related queries and manage impairment related queries through the Risk project manager
* Compile business models for Global markets, Global banking, Retail and Wealth management, Commercial banking and Islamic banking as required under IFRS 9
* Perform SPPI test for Bank's products to ensure correct classification in line with business model requirements.
* Champion the awareness of IFRS 9 in respective product areas

* Strong understanding of IFRS including IFRS 9
* Member of recognised institute of professional accountants (ACA, ACCA, CPA etc)
* Project Management and business analysis experience
