Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of power system protection and related SEL products in order to complete significant assignments.
- Manage system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing
- Lead the preparation and presentation of technical proposals for SEL equipment, services and systems.
- Provide technical leadership to project teams to resolve customer concerns and foster greater customer satisfaction.
- Plan and conduct assignments, generally involving large and critical projects and operates with considerable autonomy.
- Complete assigned work within agreed upon schedule and budget while focusing on quality and safety.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning and operation of automation and/or protection systems, both on-site and from SEL offices.
- Solve technical issues and malfunctions and identify/analyze any undesirable trends.
- Assume a project management role on assigned projects.
- Develop and mentor engineers and technicians.
- Supervisory duties as assigned.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for SEL marketing, sales, application engineering and development activities.
- Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related degree
- Professional Engineers License or equivalent
- Ten or more years of experience with electrical power systems or industrial automation system practices
- Extensive experience in system protection, protective relays and their applications, settings, and testing
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of protection, integration and/or automation applications for electric power systems and understands more than one focus area.
- Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
- Extensive experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and/or generation systems
- Willing to travel domestically and internationally
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
- Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Background check results satisfactory to SEL

Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineers License
- Strong knowledge of protective relay applications and automation applications
- Knowledge of SEL relays
