Senior Systems Engineer

Job description / Role

We are looking for a Senior System Engineer to help GPC with its technology program, by running, executing and managing its related infrastructure systems for its Core and/or non-Core Applications.

Also, the candidate for this position will manage the systems infrastructure operation within GPC’s Core and/or corporate system and maintain its required SLA.

Work as a project coordinator for one or more of the program sub-projects, and ensure its delivery within plans, schedules, work hours, budgets, and expenditures, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner.

- Plan, implement, oversee, operate and maintain server and network infrastructures and projects
- Design, install and configure internal and DMZ facing servers
- Proactively manage and maintain server
- Administer and support core Microsoft, Linux Redhat and VMware technologies.
- Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans.
- Design and implement monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment.
- Define and document best practices and support procedures.
- Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
- Maintain inventory and asset configuration documentation.
- Assist with hardware and software vendor evaluation, recommendation and negotiations Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies.
- Studying areas of improvements, capacity increasing and infrastructure scaling.
- Forecasting Infrastructure expansion and do capacity planning.
- Define and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure.
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness.
- Mentor team members on technical issues.
- Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication).
- Maintain complete technical documentation.
- Create process documentation for all provisioning tasks.
- Conduct proof of concept for new systems and technologies.
- Dealing with incident response systems.
- Perform occasional system upgrades.
- Contacting customers/members and provide L2 support to network related issues/inquiries.
- Engage in maintenance window activity related to network equipment.
- Maintain complete technical documentation and reports.
- Communicate with vendor’s team and representatives for support activities (incidents, maintenance etc…) and represent GPC’s best interests.
- Carry out special tasks at Management's direction.
- Interact with customers and staff at the technical level, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or related.
- CISCO CCNP or above
- ITIL Foundation

Other Network related certification is a highly desirable
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience system engineer in a working in critical environments.
- Senior level hands-on skills and Experience with:

• SAN Storages
• Unix Servers
• Backup Systems
• VMware and Virtualization

- Platform Admin skills and experience (VMware vSphere, Linux, Windows)
- API, web services integration tools and methods experience, / Knowledge / understanding
- Knowledge/Understanding for basic Network and Information Security concepts
- Penetration testing & intrusion detection concepts
- Experience or understanding of virtualization technologies
- Knowledge of ISO 27001/27002 / PCI DSS / ITIL V3
- Knowledge and understanding of Payments and Banking Systems industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to organization needs.
- Experience working with high end or multiple technology vendors
