Job description / Role
• Contributes to the overall process of management and corporate decision making to ensure the organisation maximizes its short, medium and long-term profitability and returns to its shareholders.
• Manages the Legal function, providing leadership, encouraging teamwork and facilitating the amalgamation process in order to achieve high performance standards and staff pride in performance and contribution.
• Exercises financial authority to the level delegated by the Board of Directors.
• Prepares the annual Legal business plans and operating and capital expenditure budgets, ensuring that adequate funding provision is made for all activities.
• Monitors expenditure against approved levels on a regular basis and investigates and justifies significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
Requirements
• University degree in Law, Sharia or relevant discipline plus relevant professional qualification / certification with 18+ years of experience.
• The demonstration of specific competencies is considered to be essential for a position at this level.
• This includes very well developed skills in ‘Impact and Influence’, ‘Commercial Acumen’, ‘Seeing the Big Picture’, ‘Developing Others’, ‘Achievement Drive’ and ‘Decisiveness/ Judgement’ as well as a reasonable development in other associated behaviors which include ‘Leadership’ and ‘Empowerment’.
