Site Quality Engineer

Job description / Role

- Lead the implementation of the SEL quality management system for the site.
- Lead site process quality improvement. Teach and apply quality tools including problem solving to identify, measure and improve processes.
- Perform internal audits to determine compliance with customer, regulatory, ISO 9001, and SEL requirements. Host external audits.
- Organize and maintain best practices for supplier quality assurance and outgoing product quality audit.
- Manage improvement projects as assigned by Quality System Manager.
- Follow and improve area processes.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects to analyze process maturity, identify problems, determine root cause(s), and implement effective corrective action.
- Develop and lead quality problem solving training.
- Provide analysis/audit reports for internal and external customers.
- Lead audits and reviews to determine compliance to quality standards.
- Lead the design of Quality related databases.
- Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
- Lead analysts to correct inconsistencies in source data, maintain metrics and identify quality issues.
- Direct and manage the quality system to meet ISO 9001, customer, and other SEL requirements.
- Lead education and implementation of quality tools to continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
- Communicate SEL product problems to customers and offer effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Manage the customer satisfaction survey process and review results with process owners to determine improvement actions.
- Benchmark SEL against best-in-class companies and competitors. Collaborate with E.O. Schweitzer Manufacturing and SEL Mexico on quality system improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering technology or equivalent experience
- 10 years experience in quality engineering or related field
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry standards including IPC workmanship criteria
- Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics
- Demonstrated success in resolution of quality issues in electronic design and manufacturing organizations
- Experience with quality assurance methods
- Excellent problem solving skills
