Job description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable ITM (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance) technician specializing in firefighting systems. The technician will be responsible for carrying out scheduled inspections, routine testing, and preventive maintenance of firefighting equipment and systems. The role requires strict adherence to safety standards, industry regulations, and documentation requirements as per NFPA and local civil defense guidelines.

Technical skills

  • Perform regular inspection and maintenance of firefighting systems including:
    • Fire pumps
    • Sprinkler systems
    • Standpipe and hose reels
    • Fire hydrants
    • Foam/water monitors
    • Deluge water spray systems
    • Foam systems (e.g., AFFF)
    • Portable fire extinguishers
  • Conduct flow testing, pressure testing, and functional testing of fire protection systems and devices
  • Report faults or hazards and recommend corrective actions to supervisors or engineers
  • Complete and submit maintenance reports, checklists, and compliance records
  • Ensure all work is performed in line with NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 25, NFPA 10, NFPA 11, NFPA 12, NFPA 2001) and local authority requirements
  • Assist engineers during third-party inspections, audits, and system handovers
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and testing devices

Qualifications and skills

  • Diploma / ITI / Technical certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Firefighting Technology
  • 2-5 years of hands-on experience in firefighting system maintenance
  • Familiar with NFPA standards (especially NFPA 25, NFPA 10, NFPA 11, NFPA 12, NFPA 2001)
  • Practical experience with:
    • Fire pump rooms (diesel/electric/jockey)
    • Sprinkler piping and heads
    • Hose reel and standpipe systems
    • Fire extinguishers servicing
  • Ability to use testing tools (pressure gauges, flow meters, etc.)
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding environments
  • Basic English speaking, reading, and writing skills
  • Valid driving license preferred
  • Safety certification (e.g., HSE, OSHA) is an added advantage

Education

Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Communication Engineering
