Airswift is seeking a structural engineering design lead to work in Qatar with a major oil and gas company.

Qualifications

Engineering degree/diploma or equivalent; however, any qualification, technical or knowledge requirements may be waived through relevant work experience.

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensure that the contractor’s structural engineering for topsides, onshore facilities (offshore scope) engineering, and gas and meg pipeline designs comply with the contract requirements including codes and standards. Provide guidance to the contractor to promote compliance.
• Plan and schedule the structural engineering deliverables to enable efficient project execution, ensuring technical alignment and compliance with Qatargas operational policies, standards of business conduct, and project management system.
• Participate in key design workshops and ensure that structural design recommendations are correctly implemented and actions closed before the end of EPCI (lessons learned, value engineering, HAZOP, 3D model reviews, engineering criticality assessment, etc.).
• Supervise the engineering interface between structural of topsides, onshore facilities (offshore scope), and pipeline engineering and the following teams: operations, drilling, well management, the jacket, the pipelines from the topsides perspective, and the onshore project team.
• Support NFE Offshore Engineering Manager in monitoring the contractor’s progress on delivery of the required documents in the structural engineering of topsides and pipeline disciplines.
• Coordinate with subject matter experts with respect to the disciplines involved in delivery of the structural engineering related to topsides and pipelines engineering, and ensure endorsement of process technical deviations to company specifications when required.
• Ensure compliance with management of change procedures for changes in the contractor’s design or deviations from the company directives.
• Liaise with vendors, sub-vendors, and sub-contractors regarding structural engineering concerns as required. Determine acceptability of equipment, techniques, and methods. Check structural and weight control standards, material requisitions, and verify that final purchase orders are in accordance with the structural and weight control specifications.
• Participate in inspections at fabrication yards and witness installation and acceptance tests.

Experience

• 10+ years of relevant experience as structural lead in a major project environment within the oil and gas industry, with broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, offshore facilities design, construction, and operations.
• Previous knowledge of brownfield engineering and execution required.
