Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Sustainability Carbon Manager to join our team, based in the GCC. The candidate will lead the development and execution of carbon management strategies, incorporating key frameworks such as the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, and Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTi). The secondment entails quantification, management, reporting, and design support for real estate activities, including emissions from embodied and operational activities.

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Ensure accurate measurement and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with GHG Protocol.
  • Oversee the implementation and compliance with ISO 14064 and PAS 2080 standards, ensuring robust and consistent carbon accounting and reporting practices.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices and innovative sustainable design through conducting a variety of life cycle analyses to support achieving sustainability goals and targets for building and infrastructure assets.
  • Support proponents and design teams in the preparation of sustainability-related reports, including sourcing of construction materials, using data from Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certificates, and analyzing greenhouse gas emissions impact based on green building standards and codes requirements such as LEED, BREEAM, Mostadam, or equivalent; and International Green Construction Code; Saudi Green Building Code 1001 and Saudi Energy Code 601 to meet both embodied and operational carbon targets.
  • Implement advanced data management systems to collect, analyze, and report on carbon-related data, facilitating informed decision-making.
  • Sound technical knowledge of building and infrastructure whole life cycle analysis (LCA) and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Prepare clear and compelling reports, presentation analysis, and recommendations on innovative approaches to environmental footprint in the context of value chain management in the built environment.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a postgraduate or professional qualification in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Carbon, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience in the field with a proven track record in topics related to sustainability, energy management, renewable energy, and climate change associated with the real estate sector. 2 years specifically in the carbon management field (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions) with the ability to provide advisory and delivery services.
  • Experience with LCA databases and database management. Hands-on experience with embodied carbon tools and software such as OneClick LCA, eTool, or equivalent software is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge in climate change and greenhouse gas emission study, sustainable supply chain management, greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions reduction, and greenhouse gas model and accounts.
  • Good understanding of carbon reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, and the like), supply chain, and circular economy principles.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a sustainability program, policies, and regulatory frameworks or processes such as ISO 14064 (quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and removals).
