Innovative teaching within a robust British curriculum provides a stimulating environment for both educators and learners.
We are currently recruiting a highly qualified and enthusiastic swimming teacher to join our Physical Education department.
This specialist role offers an exciting opportunity to develop aquatic skills and water safety across our whole-school community, from Early Years to Secondary.

- Maintain continuous, vigilant supervision of all students and staff during pool sessions, adhering strictly to international water safety and pool procedures.
- Lead and develop the school's co-curricular swimming programme, including running school swim teams, practice sessions, and coordinating participation in competitive events.
- Assess student progress in various swimming strokes and water competency skills, providing constructive feedback to support development.
- Ensure the highest standards of hygiene and safety are maintained in and around the pool area, reporting maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Actively promote water confidence, physical fitness, and the psychological benefits of swimming as part of the student wellbeing program.
Qualifications and experience:
- Physical Education, Sports Science, Education, or a related field (required).
- A recognised swimming teaching qualification (e.g., STA/ASA Level 2 or equivalent).
- A minimum of 2 years of practical experience teaching swimming to varied age groups, ideally within a school or international setting.
- Current and recognised lifeguard certification (e.g., NPLQ or equivalent) and up-to-date First Aid certification is highly desirable.
- Strong command of the English language, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proven commitment to professional growth, working collaboratively and supporting student success.
- A strong set of values that align with our BISJ vision and mission.
Preferred attributes:
- Vigilance and reliability: Demonstrated ability to remain vigilant and reliable, with an uncompromising focus on student safety in the aquatic environment.
- Motivational: Passionate about motivating students of all abilities, from beginners to competitive swimmers, to achieve their full aquatic potential.
- Teamwork: A collaborative team player able to work effectively with the wider PE department and school staff.
Why join BISJ?
- To work in a leading international school, with a diverse and motivated staff and student body.
- The opportunity to thrive in a culturally rich and diverse international community that celebrates differences and cultivates respectful, empathetic global citizens.
- To grow as a professional through a world-class professional development programme with leading global experts supported by a generous CPD budget.
- Supportive and collegial staff environment with an excellent remuneration and benefits package.
- A chance to live and work in the vibrant and welcoming city of Jeddah, recently rated the second best city for quality of life in the Arab world.
- Be part of a prestigious British international school with over 48 years of excellence, combining strong British educational values with a broad international outlook.
BISJ prioritises safer recruitment and child safeguarding, aligning with UK Keeping Children Safe in Education, the recommendations of The International Task Force On Child Protection, and other international standards. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will undergo thorough background checks, including written and verbal references; qualification verification; identity and police checks, including overseas checks.
