Job description / Role
Day to day tasks may include the following:
• Establishing the needs of users and monitoring and resolving issues related to user access and security;
• Monitoring performance and managing database parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users;
• Considering both back-end maintainability of data and front-end accessibility for end-users;
• Restoration and configuration of client terminal images for new and replacement installations.
• Maintaining data standards and integrity in accordance with SANG data protection restrictions.
• Amending database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions as directed.
Administration of access permissions and privileges;
• Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans;
• Ensuring that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly;
• Working closely with IT project managers, database developers and mapping programmers;
• Communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
Requirements
MANDATORY EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in end user support, computer operations and system administration.
Power User knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and applications particularly relating to:
• MS Outlook, MS Server 2008 and 2003, MS exchange server, Basic Windows scripting skills
• Windows 2003/2008 Server platforms with emphasis on Active Directory
• Exchange 2003/2010 messaging system
• SQL Server 2005/2012
• Advanced HW & SW troubleshooting skills.
• System Administration /System Engineer certification from Microsoft (Server 2008)
• Advanced Database troubleshooting skills.
