Job description / Role
You will provide ongoing support of Enterprise level operating system based on Red Hat Linux. You will join a group of engineers who is working for transformation project which include database migration on oracle hardware where you need to play the expert role to lead Ref Hat Linux Operating system activities from installation to tuning and performance enhancement of Red Hat Linux OS and support data migration activities.
Summary of activities as below:
• Installation, configuration and upgrading of Red Hat Linux software and related products.
• Deploy, maintain, implement and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux based systems and applications on physical sever as well as VMware.
• Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
• Apply best practices where possible or engineer new best practices using innovative approaches as appropriate.
• Analyse new and existing software; install, maintain, and customize vendor software.
• Consult with internal and external users to identify and document user objectives.
• Monitor system and application performance to detect errors; apply testing procedures/methodologies (e.g., diagnostic software) and provide interpretation of data.
• Provide root-cause analysis for recurring or critical problems
• Perform RHEL OS tuning and performance monitoring
• Setup and maintain documentation and standards
• Plan growth and changes (capacity planning)
• Work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required
• Interface with Red Hat for technical support.
• Patch Management and Version Control
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
• 7+ years of experience as OS Sys admin
• 3-5 years of RHEL systems administration experience.
• RHEL Certificated Engineer (RHCE)
• RHEL Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Ability to perform both OS performance tuning and security check
• A good knowledge Web Logic, JEE
• Knowledge of Oracle hardware
• A proven track of sys admin expertise.
• A good knowledge of VMware
• Experience with high availability architectures and concepts.
• Proven knowledge of shell scripting
• Experience with storage and OS backup management
