Role Summary:

The Tax Operations Leader Saudi will be reporting to the Regional Stat & Tax Leader; this position will ensure operational aspects of all statutory and tax filings are executed flawlessly. i.e. timely, high quality stat filings which support a robust tax return. In partnership with the S&T team for Saudi Arabia, own the process management & execution of the stat and tax processes for GE entities operating in the country.

Essential Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Regional Stat & Tax Leader this position will:
- Ensure operational aspects of all statutory and tax filings are executed flawlessly. i.e. timely, high quality stat filings which support a robust tax return.
- Understand the operations of the business, policies & procedures, and accounting records to ensure correct and timely compliance with tax legislation.
- Work with tax advisory firms to ensure efficient and effective tax processes are followed including tax audit planning, fees, feedback process, tax audit readiness & proactive management of tax exposures/risks.
- Lead the implementation of regulatory change in the region and represent GE's views with Tax & regulatory authorities.
- Responsible for the preparation and/or review of corporate income, withholding tax & VAT returns prior to filing with tax authorities.
- Assist with preparation and/or review of corporate income tax estimates to ensure that advance tax payments are accurate.
- Perform controllership tax checks including reconciliation of all tax liabilities in terms of tax assessments received from the revenue authorities with tax returns filed and deal with discrepancies.
- Assist with, tax aspects of statutory audit, tax audits and work with external tax advisors where required.
- Monitor tax legislative, accounting and regulatory developments.
- Preparation of correspondence for queries/disputes with revenue authorities.
- Attend operational pulsing calls and summarize key achievement, next steps to the team.
- Participate in the enhancement of ERP systems to facilitate tax compliance.
- Identify risk areas which can impact on the timely and accurate compliance with tax laws and use the appropriate communication channels provided by the project framework to escalate issues.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
- CA / CPA or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of tax experience with key focus on Saudi tax compliance and associated certificates/declarations.
- Good understanding of local tax regulations (CIT/WHT/VAT) & accounting standards in Saudi Arabia
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English
- Proven ability to work cross functionally.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Must be willing to travel.

Desired Characteristics:
- Local tax or professional accounting qualification.
- Highly developed sense of customer services and ability to communicate in a multicountry, multicultural environment
- Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex issues.
- Experience managing projects.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in CIT and tax regulations across other GCC countries an advantage.
- Experience in IFRS an advantage
- Arabic language an advantage.
- Accounting or finance experience an advantage.
