Job summary
Dar Engineering, a leading design and engineering consulting organization in Saudi Arabia engaged in power generation, electrical transmission and distribution, health care and high rise buildings, is seeking a highly skilled Testing & Commissioning Engineer with 3 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, specifically in substation and protection systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for witnessing and supporting all Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities on-site, ensuring technical accuracy, safety compliance, and proper documentation. This role requires hands-on experience with substation equipment, protection relays, and automation systems (SAS), as well as strong fault analysis capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Witness and oversee all Testing & Commissioning activities at the site in accordance with project specifications.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety procedures during all phases of commissioning.
- Follow and maintain the Commissioning System Documentation (CSD) filing system.
- Inspect and verify the installation and operation of substation equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers).
- Perform and witness testing of protection relays, including configuration, logic, and functional testing.
- Participate in testing and commissioning of Substation Automation Systems (SAS).
- Conduct or support electrical fault analysis, including interpretation of event and disturbance records.
- Prepare and maintain accurate commissioning records, test reports, and issue logs.
- Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and client representatives to resolve technical issues on-site.
- Support documentation handover and ensure alignment with quality and project standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in Testing & Commissioning of electrical systems.
- Proven experience working with substation equipment and protection relay systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of Substation Automation Systems (SAS); IEC 61850 is a plus.
- Strong understanding of fault analysis and root cause identification techniques.
- Familiarity with safety procedures and electrical testing standards.
- Experience working in large-scale infrastructure or utility projects, preferably in the Middle East.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
