Job description / Role

VMware Consultant will assist Customer with the following activities as described:

• Create operational documentation for their Public Cloud on VMware
• Install, configure, and test virtualization components.
• Conduct the guidance sessions about installed components.
• Assist with the lifecycle management (minor upgrades only) of the Public Cloud environment. The assistance is limited to the following VMware products: vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, vCloud Director, vCloud Availability, vRealize Operations, vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Log Insight
• Evaluate and analyze the current implementation and make recommendations for service level and technical improvements
• Assist in configuring Cloud VMware products in favor of hosting new tenants’ workloads (vCD/NSX/vSphere/vSAN/vROPS configuration)
• Conduct orientation sessions to potential Customer Cloud tenants explaining cloud features and operability

Requirements

• Expert Design knowledge in vCloud Director and vCloud Availability with hands on experience
• Worked previously in a service provider environment over VCPP VMware products stack
• Fair knowledge in networking and security concepts (mainly MPLS, NSX, cisco Nexus underlay)
• Excellent communication skills
• Fair knowledge in operations and management stack (mainly vROPS)
• Though no development skills required or expected, the cloud architect should be well aware of vCD extensibility architecture, features and capabilities
• Is aware of standard change management policies and security standards in a service provider context
• Expert knowledge in NSX and vSphere with hands on experience
• Advanced knowledge in vCD and vCAV with hands on experience
• Lead configuration changes through change management on vCD, vCAN, NSX and vSphere
• Worked previously in a service provider environment over Service Provider VMware products stack
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong knowledge in operations and management stack (mainly vROPS, vRLI and vRNI)
• Is aware of standard change management policies and security standards in a service provider context
